Mulch Madness

Mountain View Electric Association (MVEA), the Town of Monument, and Monument Fire District are partnering to host Mulch Madness, a community wildfire mitigation event. Residents in the Monument area can bring tree limbs and branches to be chipped and recycled into mulch.

Service is first-come, first-served during event hours. The event will run until 2 p.m. or until capacity is met. Please review the guidelines below before arriving. Materials that do not meet event requirements may be refused. MVEA reserves the right to decline items that do not follow the event guidelines.

  • Time: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Location: Monument – Intersection of Oktoberfest Dr. and Slopeside St. (see map below)

What You CAN Bring

  • Tree limbs
  • Tree branches

What you CANNOT Bring

  • Leaves or pine needles
  • Loose debris
  • Grass clippings
  • Root balls
  • Tree trunks or large logs
  • Entire trees
  • Construction materials or lumber
  • Any non-vegetative material

Loads may be inspected before unloading.

This event is intended for residential MVEA members only. Materials brought to the event must come from residential property maintenance or wildfire mitigation work.

Commercial contractors, landscaping companies, and commercial loads will not be accepted.

Take Home Mulch

The chipped material produced during the event will be available for members to take free of charge, while supplies last. Participants interested in mulch must bring their own containers or vehicle and load and haul it away themselves.

Vehicle Restrictions

To keep traffic moving safely:

  • No trailers larger than 6 ft. are allowed
  • Please arrive in a pickup truck, SUV, or similar vehicle
  • Secure all loads during transport

Unloading Assistance

Limited unloading assistance will be available.

Volunteers may assist when possible, but participants should be prepared to unload their own materials if needed to help keep the line moving.
